Genevieve Jacobs
Genevieve Jacobs has always loved gardens with a passion. Born on a family property in Western NSW she grew up among the towering century-old figs and mulberries of the homestead orchard. She began her own gardening career at Wallendbeen on the South West Slopes, where she inherited a garden designed for her mother-in-law by Kath Carr, surrounding a family home. Gardens and design have been woven through her career as a journalist and broadcaster too. Beginning with local newspapers, she has written for a number of fine arts and gardening magazines and also lectured on artists and their gardens. Genevieve has worked for 666 ABC Canberra for a decade, beginning on weekend gardening and arts programmes. She presented the Afternoons show before moving to her current position on Mornings and enjoys covering issues around history, culture and the environment as well as a close engagement with local news and current affairs issues. She works widely in the community with non-profit groups and is involved with a number of organisations including the Friends, the ACT Asthma Foundation and the ACT Gift of Life board.
Genevieve served as President of the Friends of Old Parliament House Rose Gardens from 2013-16.
